Great things are expected from this conference and the manufacturers of Britain are today, after a very long period

of unprofitable years, beginning to see light ahead. As

compared to other countries in the world today, the economic

outlook in Great Britain appears to be most hopeful. In

view of the conditions described it seems indeed unfortunate

that your Excellency's Government is in this case unable to

assist British trade in China.

And your Petitioner will ever pray etc.
